Frequently Asked Questions

How many slides can I store in SlideWhere?
It depends on the content of the slides... but approximately 500,000 slides.

How fast is the search function?
Slidewhere can search a library of 10,000 slides in less than a second. Your slides are imported into a library and indexed according to title and text so there is no slow chugging through your hard drive looking for slides.

My 7-day Trial period is about to expire, how do I purchase Slidewhere?
Before the end of the trial period you can click the "Purchase SlideWhere" option under Help on SlideWhere's menu. Slidewhere will prompt you anyway when the trial period expires. Your PC needs to be connected to the internet. You can also purchase using a web browser and then enter a serial key manually into SlideWhere - Click Here.

Will SlideWhere change my existing slides?
No. SlideWhere will import and use your slides as they are until you change them through the Edit function. SlideWhere is an organizational tool. Your presentations will not look or behave differently than they would in PowerPoint®.

Will SlideWhere change my existing presentations?
No. SlideWhere will copy your presentations into the library but will not overwrite them until you explicitly regenerate (after you have added, removed or changed a slide). Even then you will get a prompt before a .ppt file is overwritten.

What is a "carousel" ?
A carousel represents a presentation within the SlideWhere library. You load slides into a carousel then generate the presentation (the ppt file), One carousel represents one presentation. When you import a presentation it appears in the library as a carousel. Within SlideWhere "carousel" and "presentation" are really the same thing, we just wanted to distinguish between the (abstract) item within the SlideWhere library and the PowerPoint ppt file you generate.

Will I be able to view my presentations using PowerPoint® only?
Yes. SlideWhere helps you organize and find your slides. Presentations are saved (as normal .ppt files) in a folder and can be viewed through PowerPoint®.

Will I be able to copy a slide presentation onto a portable medium (memory key, diskette, etc.)?
Yes. You can copy your presentation onto any medium as you would with any other file.

Will my master view be affected by SlideWhere?
No. The master will be saved with the presentation. Because each slide can be used in many presentations, each slide can be previewed in multiple master versions.

Is SlideWhere compatible with older versions of PowerPoint®?
SlideWhere can be used with PowerPoint® 2000 and later versions.

Can SlideWhere be used in Windows versions older than Windows XP?
Yes. SlideWhere can be used with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows2000 (service pack 3) and later versions.

Can i share my SlideWhere library with other users on a local area network?
Yes, SlideWhere is multi-user ready. Any number of users can simultaneously import, edit and generate slides and presentations in the same SlideWhere library.

If I share my slides, do I have to share all of them?
Yes and No. Libraries which are not in shared folders cannot be accessed by anyone but you. A library can exist on a network and be used by whoever has access to that folder. This version of SlideWhere does not support different access permissions for slides within the same library. You can though have multiple libraries and share some but not others using standard windows file sharing techniques.
